A beautiful pop hymn to the African goddess of Fertility, female power and fresh waters.— sung and chanted clearly
and cleanly by Aco, through which the listener truly feels the blessing of a goddess.”
“Oxum is a breath of sonic fresh air — confident, soulful, and filled with peaceful energy. There is sweetness and soul in her vocal performance. The wonderful arrangement and production enhances her voice and the song.
It’s now on my ‘Peaceful’ playlist to listen again and again.”
If you are searching for something entirely different from the new age genre, then Oxum, the latest track from Aco Takenaka, will satisfy that need. The track is from her forthcoming album Ancient Seeds, due out in October.
Although she is singing in another language and you may not understand her, the vocals are mesmerizing and soothing as can be.
Ancient Seeds, featuring “Oxum” as the first single, is a testament to the power of musical convergence, an exploration of global traditions, seamlessly woven together to create a new, deeply resonant tapestry, an experience to be felt, a reminder that in our turbulent world, the most profound truths can be found in the ancient, sacred sounds that live within and around us all.
“Ancient Seeds” is an almost mystical work by the artist based in Tokyo, the Japanese capital, Aco Takenaka, a composer who moves like a fish in water in a territory that is mainly nourished by the traditional music of the Asian archipelago and also by New Age sounds, a perfectly balanced mix that gives her sound creations an intentional aspect of medical music. In fact, Aco Takenaka is the founder and leader of the Japanese choral group Kazoku, a formation that provides musical support to the increasingly numerous Japanese communities that are looking for this type of sound creation designed for the connection with nature and with inner and spiritual listening.
“Ancient Seeds”, ancient seeds, this is the title of the new work by the Japanese resident in Tokyo Aco Takenaka, an artist who, as we said before, goes beyond the simple music trade with her creations and who leads us towards a territory that is gaining followers all over the world, that of music as a therapeutic option, a fact that in a certain way connects us with the ancestors who naturally already used music as a healing element, at least on a spiritual and emotional level. Through avant-garde sounds, then, Takenaka connects directly with this ancient and fortunately reborn universal function of root music.
Today’s trip to the wonderful world of new age vocal music was provided by the new fresh and exciting single called Oxum, recorded and gifted to the planet by the quite breath taking Aco Takenaka. Here is a new manifestation that will light up the genre, and this pastiche of a blended global music perspective is an inspired homage to water in its entirety.
This vibrant new offering fly’s on the winds of a gracious tomorrow, Oxum is the female Orixá of love and beauty, and is the only female Orixá believed to have participated in the creation of the world. She overlaps with many of the other Orixá, with dominion over fresh water, fish, mermaids, and butterflies.
She embodies the natural energy of fresh water, and is usually invoked close to water sources; the constant stream that runs through this piece is quite beautifully layered and juxtaposes the theme and the music with perfect balance, the marimba and light percussion dances in a crystal chamber of stunning harmony with the blissful vocals of the artist.
The rhythm is perfection, the tonal delights utterly magical; now watch out for this song, Oxum is a single from the forthcoming album Ancient Seeds, so even more glorious music is on its way, and this one is a certain chart hit with ease for Aco Takenaka and Oxum, its spectacular, beautiful and picturesque.
