Happy New Year! 2022✨
This is the song I chose for the new year, “Amamikiyo”. In the old days in Okinawa, the sun was called so as a god.
Calling out the name of something is inviting the feeling of the culture of that word, or a specific concept, into your heart.
When we sing the name of a deity, we are inviting into our hearts and minds the power of that deity and how the people of that time adored and loved that deity as beautiful.
By doing so, We are inviting that deity’s power.
There are names for sun gods all over the world, but what was the Okinawan name “Amamikiyo”? How does the Okinawan name “Amamikiyo” differ from “Amaterasu”? Please enjoy.
